Perhaps this year I should rename my blog to the “Rumblings of a grumpy old man”. There are a lot of things that frustrate me at the moment.
Let’s take this photo of the blond girl waiting for a bus. The frustration and impatience on her face reflects that of many people. Transport in Sydney is rapidly deteriorating. It does not matter if you are traveling by bus or train. My weekly train ticket was today $2 more than last week. Was the train any faster, on time or less congested? NO! In fact, the government is telling us we should accept that the overcrowding on trains will increase from currently acceptable 4% to 17%. Lovely! I can see, especially during summer, all the people fainting due to lack of oxygen or too high temperatures in an overcrowded carriages.
A disturbing photograph of a man in anguish folded on the pavement of the Pitt Street Mall. He was approached by a number of people, who have shown concern for his wellbeing. However, each of them walked away after exchanging few words with him. He was not begging and he did not ask for help.
This photograph of a man with extremely long hair could easily illustrate title song of the musical Hair. Some of you may remember the chorus: “Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it. Long as God can grow it. My hair”
A special day for hair today. I took three interesting photographs - all on the subject of hair. Firstly quite a deliberate framed photograph of a man with big hair and a model on a poster behind him. I have aligned the view in such way that the model seems to be looking at the man.
I have taken a set of photographs of Micah mid December at the base of Skillion at Terrigal. I thought we did quite well considering the photographs were done ad-hoc. Here is a little YouTube video with some music (The song is by German band Liquido and was obtained from Synthopia, where you can find lots of very good, free music) to match.
You can see all of the photographs used in the video at better quality in Micah gallery
In the recently released movie “The day the Earth stood still” there is a line uttered by the alien, played by Keanu Reeves, in the reference to humanity: “there is another side to you , I can see that now”. This provoking statement like a deja vu occurred to me when I noticed Doug and Phoebe. Initially I have spotted Dough with his impressive piercings and gauged ear. I was ready to approach him and ask for a “character” pose. However, before I gathered the courage he was joined by Phoebe and they have exchanged a number of moving hugs in obviously sensual moments. “There is another side to you , I can see that now”. When I approached them I knew exactly what I wanted the photograph to convey. They have agreed to the idea very quickly and second later this photograph was created.
Thanks Phoebe and Doug, you’ve been most accommodating models.
